I stayed home with my sweet boy for eight weeks. That gave me time to spend with him and hold him and love him all day every day. Blaine is an incredibly good baby. He usually doesn't cry unless he needs or wants something. He doesn't care if other people hold him. He is also always happy. That is unless he is sick. When he was about 4 months old it went from one things wrong with him to the next. He started out getting his shots and being unhappy from that. Then it went on to constipation and then he was sick with a virus. We took him into the doctor so many times. Once was to get a chest x-ray to make sure he didn't have RSV. Thank goodness he didn't. After about a month he started feeling better. To this day he still has a cough, but the doctor thinks that it is asthma. He gave him some medicine, but it doesn't do anything. Hopefully we can figure out something so he doesn't cough all the time.
So aside from him not feeling well for a month he has been great. He can sit up and he scoots backwards. He knows how to get on his knees, but instead of going forwards he goes backwards. It's actually really funny. He backs himself into anything and everything. His first word is Dada. The day after Rob left for Pennsylvania Blaine started saying Dada. He says it all the time. He has also learned how to scream. It is the highest pitch you can imagine. He usually does it if I am not paying enough attention to him or if he is bored with what he has been doing.
Some of Blaine's favorite things are: Music... he loves listening to the radio and his favorite is when I sing to him. I have even gotten into the habit of singing the songs on the commercials. He gets the biggest grin. Blaine loves when mommy and daddy tickle him and kiss him all over. That is the thing that gets him laughing the loudest. He loves his toys and the noise that they make. He also loves playing in his bouncer. That is the one toy that will keep him interested the longest. He loves his mommy and daddy. The end of the day when he are both home with him playing he just giggles and laughs and smiles until he is too wore out to go on.
When it comes to food he is just about as picky as his daddy. He refused to eat peas, peaches, apples (juice or sauce), and today I found out he doesn't like apricots either. When I am trying to convince him to eat these food he will seal his lips. If that doesn't work he scrunches up his nose, and finally when I put the spoon in his mouth he blows it EVERYWHERE. That is usually the only time he gets in trouble with mommy!
Blaine's favorite time of the day is bath time. He will just lay in his ducky bath tub and kick and splash and stick all his bath toys in his mouth. He also likes to prop his feet up on the side of the ducky like he is just relaxing away.
I enjoy every moment of this little guys life. I look forward every day to the moment that I get to pick him up after school. Every time he sees me walk into the room his face lights up and he gives me a great big grin. As much as I love watching him grow and learn new things and I'm hoping it slows down just a little bit. As soon as he gets the crawling down he won't be a baby anymore. He will move into being a toddler. I have truly taken to heart the saying, "Live in the present." Rob will say here and there, "I can't wait until he can talk" or "I can't wait until he can walk." My response it always, "I can!" He is growing up too fast as it is. The next thing I know he's going to be starting school.
Being a mother is just as wonderful as I imagined it to be. I love every single second of it. Even the unhappy moments when my baby doesn't feel good and won't go to sleep. Just the opportunity I have to hold him is magical. I hope that every mother feels the same joy that I have felt from my little boy.
