It has been a really long time since I last wrote a blog. So here is an update:
Life has been very busy. I work, work, work.... and I am very tired after the work. Rob and I have had very little time to spend with each other. I miss him. But I am getting through this busy time of year.
My class this year is tough. I thought last year was tough, but this year is much harder. I went from 15 students last year to 25 this year. And there are different situations that I have had to deal with. Lately I have been really stuggling with work. I love to teach... it is a passion, but I feel as if I have not taught anything this year. Between all the paper work, testing, and dealing with behavior issues I have honestly feel like I just go through the motions. I have been wondering what I was thinking getting into this profession. I have struggled and struggled and struggled... thinking all along this is not what I was prepared for. I loved every minute I was in the classroom until I actually started teaching. I think that may have been because for one I didn't have to do paper work and two I had the chance to really teach. The education system is changing so much. I find myself becoming the kind of teacher I never pictured myself as. I'm not a bad teacher, but I am a very strict teacher. And if I am not strict my students would be walking all over me. I have noticed that my students do a pretty good job of behaving theirselves while I am there but once they leave my classroom at least one of them ends up in trouble. So after all the struggles and frustrations I have been feeling I finally found the strength I have been looking for. I was talking to the councelor today and I told him that I feel like every year I am going to have students in different situations that are going to have MAJOR problems and that every year is going to be a hard year. He responded to me by saying that I will have problems every year, but the more I teach the easier it will be and the better I will know what needs to be done. As I thought about that I was put at ease. I realized that the situations won't get easy, but that I will know how to handle them better. I just need to make it past the next couple of years and teaching will become teaching again. I am looking forward to that day.
On a better happier note I went home last weekend... that is to Salt Lake. I loved it! I was only there for a couple days but it was a well needed trip. I was able to see some friends and a lot of my family that I never get the chance to see. I love just having a couple days to visit with all the people I never get to see and just enjoy life. I had a great time at my sisters house where there was a lot of laughter. My 17 year old niece seems to laugh at everything I say. I know I'm not really that funny but it makes me feel good that I can make her laugh. And when she laughs I do too. My brothers are pretty funny too. I also was able to spend time with my parents. That was good. I can tell that their health is going down hill and I feel like I need to spend as much time with them as I can. I will be up in Salt Lake again for Thanksgiving and I am really looking forward to that experience. It's good to get together with all the people I love.
Rob and I are looking into transfering to another branch of his company at the end of this school year. We both feel like a change is needed. And who knows by then there may be a baby on the way. At leasting I am hoping that's what happens. We have stopped looking at houses for now. If Rob really ends up transfering we will most likely buy a house where ever we move to.... and right now we are looking back into moving to Texas. We will have to see what happens.
Well that is our latest!!! I will keep you all updated... that is everyone who actually reads my blogs.
